The cells of south wing of the monastic complex of Nea Moni in Chios, a listed World Cultural Heritage monument, lie in a state of disprepair following the destructive 1881 earthquake; their state of preservation deteriorated further after the recent earthquake that struck the SE Aegean region on June 12th 2017.

The project “Enhancement of the South wing of Nea Moni Monastery of Chios” is part of the North Aegean Region Special Purpose Development Program 2017-2020 of the Ministry of Economy an Development, and will be executed with own means and on an ex-post budget basis by the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios, with a budget of 700,000, 00 € and projected completion date December 2021.
