2017-2018 ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM OF CHIOS: THE HARBOR SANCTUARY AT EMPORIO

The Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios is announcing the opening of a new temporary exhibition with the title “The Harbor Sanctuary at Emporio” on Tuesday September 19^th 2017. The central exhibits are two Archaic marble Kouroi and part of a Kore statues, discovered together with numerous other votive offerings in the excavation between the years 2002-2006, in the Vasilis heirs land plot, at the foot of the prehistoric acropolis of Emporio. The land plot is located inside the wider area occupied by the so-called “Harbor Sanctuary”, which was dedicated to Apollo and Artemis, and flourished during the 6^th and 5^th century B.C.
