24 Oct INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY 2018 THE EPHORATE OF ANTIQUITIES ON THE INTERNET
The International Council of Museums (ICOM), in order to promote the role of Museums in modern society, has already since 1977 established the 18th of May as International Museum Day. The message of this anniversary is that Museums should become nodes of cultural exchange, in order to foster learning and international cooperation.
On this day, admission to the Museums and archaeological sites of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios will be free of charge for the public.
The 2018 International Museum Day focuses on the subject “Museums and (inter)net(s), novel approaches, new audience”. Museums, monuments and archaeological sites will be transformed into meeting hubs, where the public will discuss and experience the new digital world.
The Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios will participate in the anniversary by organizing the event “efachi.gr: The Ephorate of Antiquities of Chios on the internet”in the Ottoman School of the Castle of Chios; the event is intended for a specialized audience, active in the field of communication and promotion of Chios.
